  1. Judas Lament

From the recordings Judas Lament and The Twelve

Lyrics

Judas’ Lament
Verse 1
No one sensed evil within me
Most times neither did I
I sensed a great purpose for my life
But never to eternally die
Chorus 1
I was walking with Christ who proclaimed himself king
When he spoke it never seemed to make sense
Love those you hate, give all away
To know him, to know God, that’s the best
Verse 2
What about today and tomorrow
Does God care if we live or we die?
Thru oppression and hunger, mans hate for man
All he seems to do is look towards the sky
Chorus 2
I was walking with Christ who proclaimed himself king
But I couldn’t buy into it all
Roman rule was too strong and we’d waited so long
Could this king release us from their law?
Verse 3
It seemed so harmless an act to me
And the right thing to do at the time
They came to me and asked where he’d be
It wasn’t like it was a crime
Bridge
But now I stand before the Almighty
And Jesus the Christ at His side
I have no words for my defense
I wait to be sentenced to the fire
Verse 4
Perhaps if I’d known then what I do now
Things would have been different
I’d follow the Lord and lead others to Christ
Then I’d join them as one heaven sent
Chorus 3
I was walking with Christ who proclaimed himself King
Back then it never seemed to make sense
Love those you hate, give all away
To know Him, to know God, that’s what’s best!
